EPL Transfer Gossip: July 24th 2011

Well, so it’s Sunday and we got some crazy news in the EPL Transfer Gossip today. Joey Barton to Manchester United? Who would have thought of that!?

So let’s just get right in there with the nonsense.

Manchester United Apparently Want Joey Barton

So here’s The Sunday Times gambling with their reputation here, with them claiming that they want the former England International to be backup next season. So here’s what they had to say:

With Darren Fletcher recovering slowly from a debilitating virus and Darron Gibson on the transfer list, United need midfield cover and Barton, 29 in September and in the last year of his contract, could be signed for around £2m. Ferguson knows from derbies when Barton was at Manchester City that he is a player who can raise his game on the big stage.

The Sunday Times

A Manchester United shirt with Bartons name on it? I’m far from convinced.

For you Gooners

So, (for once) no real update on Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri today, whether that brings cheers or disappointment that the move is taking so d*mn long to finish I’ll let you guys debate amongst yourselves.

There’s some rumours about Arsene Wenger potentially opening his rusty old bank account to afford for some replacements should Fabregas/Nasri/both leave sometime soon:

(Arsenal are set to make) £20million moves for Valencia’s Juan Mata and Villarreal’s Santi Cazorla if the sale of captain Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona finally goes through this week

The Mail

The Sunday Express are also claiming that the actual fee that Arsenal FC bid for Everton man Phil Jagielka is more closer to 12 million pounds (not that it makes much difference). But they are set to try and lower Everton’s 17 million pounds price tag on the English man’s head once David Moyes is back at Everton’s training ground.

So that’s all for today, come back tomorrow for more!
