Priyadarshini Park was as quite and empty as it gets on the 20th of March. As most of the regulars at the park were busy celebrating the festival of colours. The football field though had its bit of colours as 10 teams played the Dermalogica Football League throughout the day with their colourful jerseys .
With most of the players coming in with coloured faces FBG officials had a hard time identifying the participants. The first match was all set to start when the organisers realised that there were only three referees on the ground and not four (fourth official). So after a delay of 25 minutes the DFL match day four kicked off.
In the first game, Classic Sports Club were up against the Mahim outfit, Sporting Options COLTS. Both the teams were unable to put the ball in the back of the net as the scored ended in a goalless draw. Despite of the boring result the match was played at a very high tempo and physically strong challenges came coming in from the Mumbai Central club.
Second game saw the Thane outift, Youth Soccer Academy getting their first win of the season by defeating Peninsula FC 3-0. The first half Peninsula’s defense looked good as they did not allow the suburban academy to score. But in the second half, the boys from Thane broke the ice via Anil Desai’s 25 yards strike was one of the best goals witnessed so far in the league.
The third game of the day was between the League leaders Falcon Brothers and third place Chheda Nagar Prodigies. The Chembur team had a great chance to take a lead via a penalty, but Suhel Nair missed from the spot. Falcons kept pushing and creating chances as the match began to gain tempo towards the end. Clinton Mendes finally broke the deadlock as the league leaders made sure they din’t lose any points from this game as the match ended 1-0.
In the fourth game Oval FC were trying to get the three points with the bottom of the table Sajid Academy, but the later disappointed them and went on wining 2-0 via goals from Ibad Ansari and Farid Ansari. The young team from Mumbai Central recorded their first win in the competition and got the much needed boost from this win.
Last game of the day between the favorites Millwall FC and Veera United was another thriller, as the Andheri boys almost disappointed the Bandra Boys. Millwall enjoyed most of the ball possession but Veera’s goaleeper Rishi Mapara blocked all the shots which frustrated his opponents. In the dying minutes of the game the hero of the game Rishi had his goosey moment when he let go a ball thinking it was way off target which actually landed in the back of the net. This lucky goal meant that Millwall were equal on points with the league leaders Falcon Brothers but in the second position on goal-difference.
