The Maybank Championship is the LPGA Tour's penultimate stop before the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship. As such, the field at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club will feature most of the top players available.

The 2023 Women's PGA Championship champion and number two in the Rolex Rankings, Ruoning Yin, will be the top-ranked golfer at the Maybank Championship. Yin is coming off a stellar season in which she has two wins and four third-place finishes in 18 events (16 cuts made).

14 other major champions will also be competing in the Maybank Championship. They are Celine Boutier, Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, Brooks Henderson, Jin Young Ko, Allisen Corpuz, Ashleigh Buhai, Yuka Saso, Ariya Jutanugarn, Hannah Green, Jenniffer Kupcho, Danielle Kang, Patty Tavatanakit and Hinako Shibuno.

One of the best players of the season is undoubtedly France's Boutier. In 2023, she accumulated three victories on the LPGA Tour, including the Evian Championship. She currently sits fifth in the Rolex Rankings and is the leader heading into the CME Group Tour Championship.

Korda also had a solid season in 2023, although she lacked a big result. She does have one victory (Aramco Team Series - London) on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She is currently ranked sixth in the world.

Henderson won her first LPGA Tour event of the season (Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions), which was the 13th victory of her career. She had other notable results throughout the rest of the season and is ranked 12th in the world.

Ko started the season as the world number one and even won her first tournament of the year (Saudi Ladies International of the LET). However, she has lost ground over the course of the season due to some inconsistent results (including five missed cuts).

Nevertheless, Lydia Ko is still a very high-level player who just finished third at the BMW Ladies Championship this weekend. She is currently ranked ninth.

Who else will be playing in the Maybank Championship?

The Maybank Championship will have a field of only 78 players, with 10 spots filled by invitations from the organizers. This means that 68 players have been invited to the CME Group Tour Championship due to their privileged ranking.

Two-time major winner Yin Young Ko is not only fifth on that list but also third on the Rolex Rankings. She is another player whose results this season (two wins, three top 10s) make her a favorite in every tournament she plays.

The same can be said for 2023 W.S. Women's Open champion Allisen Corpuz. The American reached the LPGA Tour winner's circle this season, but she did it by winning a major, no less. She has four other top-10 finishes and currently sits 10th on the Rolex Rankings.

Ashleigh Buhai has been cut six times in 2023. Still, she has accumulated a win and four other top 10s to prove her quality.
