Winning the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship also earned Paul Waring 1,500 points for the DP World Tour's internal Race to Dubai ranking, moving him up to fifth place. Waring is now third in the group of 10 players who will receive their PGA Tour cards at the end of the season.
Following his victory, Waring told the DP World Tour News Service:
"I don't want to sound over the top or anything but I felt like my golf game has been in such a good place over the last year. Just haven't put it all together. And then this week arrives and you know what, a week for it all to come together, putting nicely, approach play was great, great off the tee. It's nice to put it all together and get a tournament like this."
Race to Dubai leader and world number three Rory McIlroy carded nine birdies and one bogey in the final round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship to finish eight-under par. It was not enough to win the title, but it was enough to move up 10 places to tie for third.
