The AIG Women's Open is the final Major of the season for the LPGA Tour. It's the last chance for all the golfers in the field to add one of the most illustrious trophies to their mantle. For some, like Lexi Thompson, it may be their last chance to take home a Major at all. She's retiring after the season, and some players aren't guaranteed a spot in future Majors.
Unfortunately, not everyone can make it into the field. Major fields are pretty expansive, but they're not all-inclusive. There are qualifications that have to be met and for various reasons, these notable names did not meet them or will not be playing this weekend.
Who's not playing in the AIG Women's Open?
5) Caroline Hedwall

Caroline Hedwall is technically not out of the Women's Open just yet. The golfer is on the reserve list since she came up short in a playoff at qualifying. She was that close to making it in, so if anyone drops out, she'll be in line to take their place. As it stands, though, she has an agonizing few days while she waits to see a tee time pop up beside her name.
4) Pia Babnik

Pia Babnik made a name for herself at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She finished 22nd and continued her ascent in the sport, but the young golfer did not make it in qualifying. She shot even par, so the 20-year-old will not be at St. Andrews. She is still very young, so there will be more opportunities for her to get into this Major.
3) Bianca Pagdanganan

Bianca Pagdanganan also grew in popularity thanks to the Olympics, but she will also be elsewhere this weekend. She shot five over par in qualifying for the AIG Open. She has some experience in Majors, including a T9 finish at the 2020 PGA Championship, but she hasn't played the AIG Women's Open yet.
2) Azahara Munoz

Azahara Munoz didn't attempt to qualify, so she could have been ruled out by injury. Anyhow, she won't play this weekend. She did well at the Olympics as well, placing T13, and has had top-20 finishes in all five women's Majors throughout her career, but she won't add to that at the AIG Women's Open.
1) Danielle Kang

Danielle Kang is the 2017 KPMG Women's PGA Championship winner and a six-time LPGA Tour champion, but she will not be in the field this weekend at St. Andrews. Her past success didn't help in qualifying, where she shot six over and missed making it into the field by a wide margin.
