The Chevron Championship is taking place this weekend, the first major of the LPGA schedule. It's the biggest time of the year for the sport and it gives every golfer the chance to add a major to their trophy room. Nelly Korda, unsurprisingly, is the favorite to take home the trophy, but the favorites do not always win.
There are quite a few who are being surprisingly overlooked by oddsmakers, so here are the biggest dark horse candidates who could actually win.
Golfers who can beat the odds and win the Chevron Championship
5) Rose Zhang
Rose Zhang is one of the brightest young golfers in the world, but she's being overlooked here in the odds (all odds via DraftKings). She's +2500 to win the Chevron outright, which would be her first ever.
She did not finish outside the top 30 of a major championship in her best showings, and she's a dark horse candidate to stun the field here.
4) Celine Boutier
Celine Boutier has one major championship to her name, getting it from the 2023 Evian Championship. That was fairly recently, so it's a bit of a surprise that she's only +3500 to win the Chevron. She's finished in the top seven of every single major she's played in, so she has the talent to stick around and could put together a run to dethrone Norda.
3) Anna Nordqvist
Anna Nordqvist is one of the best female golfers of all time. She's past her prime, but she has three major championships to her name. The Chevron is one she hasn't won yet, but anyone who has the talent to win three others, even over a whole career, can grab another.
It would be a little like Tiger Woods win at the 2019 Masters, as she's an older golfer who has very long odds (+10000) but is capable of putting together one good tournament.
2) Jin Young Ko
Jin Young Ko is the Rolex number six golfer in the world right now, so it's very surprising to see that she has odds not even in the top 50! She's +50000 to win the Chevron Championship, which suggests she's far lower than her Rolex rank. She already has two majors, and she'd really be defying the odds if she added a third here at the Chevron this weekend.
1) Charley Hull
Charley Hull is currently facing rather long odds to win the Chevron Championship. She's barely within the top 15 of odds to win outright, which is a little low for the world's seventh-ranked golfer. She is one of the LPGA Tour's most talented golfers, and she is more than capable of beating these odds and getting what would be considered a surprise win.
