7th edition of CG Open to host 120 golfers

Mumbai, November 27, 2014: Avantha Group Company CG and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) will host the country’s leading golfers in the 7th edition of CG Open. Led by defending champion Chikkarangappa S and Rashid Khan, the reigning Rolex Rankings champion and current Super Series leader, nearly 120 players will feature in the Rs 1 crore prize money CG Open 2014, to be held at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC) from December 3 to 6, 2014. CG’s committed support to Indian professional golf through this marquee event is an important week on the PGTI calendar and the tour in western India.

CG Open, the largest golfing event in the Western Region of the country and part of the PGTI Super Series, will culminate with a Pro-Am tournament on December 7. The tournament will see some of the best talents in golf, with the likes of Shankar Das (current Rolex Rankings leader), Shamim Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Om Prakash Chouhan, Shubhankar Sharma, Digvijay Singh, Khalin Joshi and others, vying for top honours.

Chikkarangappa, the defending champion, will contend with the other former CG Open champions like Harendra Gupta, Mandeo Singh Pathania, Kunal Bhasin from Australia and Ashok Kumar.

The other prominent foreign players in the field are Sri Lanka’s Anura Rohana, K Prabagaran, N Thangaraja, Nepal's Shivaram Shrestha and Bangladesh's Md Zamal Hossain Mollah.

The two prominent Mumbai players in the field are Anil Bajrang Mane and Wilson Raj De Mello.
