The two-time major champion had committed to the event but was forced to withdraw owing to a neck injury. The field at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club includes 14 of the 18 winners of the 2024 season. There are also eight members of the world's top 10 (Korda and Lydia Ko will not be playing). One player to watch out for is Hannah Green, fresh off a victory at the BMW Ladies Championship in Korea. The Australian has three wins in 2024, trailing only Ko and Korda in terms of tournament victories.Another top contender is Jeeno Thitikul from Thailand, who has already secured one victory this season at the Dow Championship. Thitikul enters the Maybank Championship with a strong track record, finishing in the top 10 in her last five LPGA Tour starts, including a runner-up finish at the Kroger Queen City Championship.Defending champion Celine Boutier, despite a challenging season, has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks. She won the Aramco Team Series Shenzhen on the Ladies European Tour, tied for ninth at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, and finished second at the BMW Ladies Championship.
