Diksha wins 7th USHA DGC Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship 2016

New Delhi, November 17, 2016: The 7th Usha DGC Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship 2016 concluded today at Delhi Golf Club with Diksha Dagar scoring a fine par-72 round to claim the Category A honours. Usha has been supporting Ladies Amateur Golf for the last 29 years.

This year’s tournament witnessed the participation of 105 Indian amateur golfers.

Staying ahead of the pack, Diksha, the zero-handicap golfer, won the -14 and under handicap event with a three-round total of 222. Sifat Sagoo scored a 74 to total 226 while Anika Verma carded a 79 to aggregate 2133 and finish third.

Diksha began with a birdie but dropped a stroke soon after to end the first nine at par-36. She had a par second nine to end up with a 72, which was enough to give her the title.

Sifat had three bogeys and a double bogeys but three birdies gave her a two-over round, while Anika had a pretty poor eight bogeys and one birdie to give her a seven-over card. The scores also made Diksha and Sifat winner and runner-up in the Usha Junior Girls Trophy 2016 (for under-18 girls in Category A and B).

The Usha Gold Trophy for best gross scores also saw the same golfers on top. The best nett honours went to Himadri Singh (6 handicap) with a nett of 163. Yavnika Duhan (-14) won the Jahanara Challenge Trophy for in Categories A and B (-25 and below) with a nett or 212, followed by Purnisha Gangarappa (-9) at 214. Yavnika also won the DLF Challenge Cup.
