"Hey dude I know we've never met but I read the web.com post about your depression and anxiety. I dealt with it myself. I'm taking a medical the rest of the year to take care of it. Keep plugging along man you aren't alone. Good luck the rest of the season hopefully see you out on tour next year."

Grayson Murray's parents issue statement revealing the official cause of his death

Murray was very open about his struggles on and off the course. He had been struggling with his mental health and with alcohol following a near-fatal bike accident before the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. The statement issued by his parents read:

"We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone. It’s surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves, but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world. It’s a nightmare...We would like to thank the PGA TOUR and the entire world of golf for the outpouring of support. Life wasn’t always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now."

Grayson Murray is survived by his parents, fiancee, brother, sister, and nephews. The golf world is mourning the loss of Murray.

Murray was honoured at the Korn Ferry Tour's Visit Knoxville Open. Play was suspended for three minutes as everyone at the venue joined for a moment of silence to mourn the loss of the former Korn Ferry Tour player.

Players at the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge wore red and black ribbons to honour Murray. His parents requested that the colors be worn as Murray wore red and black every time he competed on a Sunday.
