Madappa in sole lead in northern India junior golf

Gurgaon – Overnight leader Viraj Madappa finally emerged as the sole leader with a total score of 220 (74-72-74) at the end of 54 holes on the third day of the Toyota Indian Golf Union (IGU) Northern India Juniors being played at the Golden Greens Golf Resort here on Thursday.

In combined age categories, Madappa, who represents Tollygunge Club, is being closely followed by Prakhar Asawa from Rambagh Golf Club and Aman Raj from Patna Golf Club who are just one stroke behind the leader with identical scores of 221 — tied at second place with round scores of 73-74-74 and 74-73-74, respectively.

Madappa, who was nothing but consistent over the first two days, gave another stable performance on the third day of the tournament, carding a two over par-74 to maintain the lead.

Prakhar Asawa who finished the second day as the tied leader in the under-14 category, had a two over par 74 on the day to finish second in combined categories.
