Mercedes Trophy 2018: Bombay Presidency Golf Club all set for Qualifiers

Mumbai qualifiers for the MercedesTrophy 2018 is all set to tee off on January 10th, 2018 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, with 300 city golfers set to compete for the three available National Finals qualification spots. The Mumbai leg will be played over three days (10th-12th January 2018) and three winners (one each day) will make it to the National Finals scheduled in Pune between 4th – 6th April, 2018, at the Oxford Golf Resort, where the 18th India edition of the country’s most prestigious corporate Golf tournament got underway on January 4th.

The first two legs of qualification in Pune and Ahmedabad saw three spots booked for the National Finals and post the third Mumbai leg 34 more spots will be up for grabs in the remaining qualification legs.

The 18th edition of the MercedesTrophy will travel to nine more cities after Mumbai including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Noida and Jaipur. Three winners of the National Finals will compete against those from tournaments played in 60 countries all over the world in the 29th edition of the MercedesTrophy World Final in Stuttgart, Germany. Mercedes-Benz is also providing opportunity for beginners to learn golf through an exclusive Golf Clinic program.

The MercedesTrophy, has attained social significance this year with the association of Laureus - Sport for Good Foundation. The tournament will raise voluntary funds from the participants and same will be used to fund different programmes from Laureus and its NGOs to empower underprivileged children using the power of sport. In addition to this, MercedesTrophy will also organize lucky draws for participants who have donated towards this noble cause.

The format of play will be Double Peoria. This unique format of adjusting handicaps of players levels the playing field enabling golfers to have a greater chance of qualifying for the National Finals.
