NUCLR GOLF shared an X post on June 11 featuring Johnson's comments alongside an image of him from fishing. The caption of the post read:

"LIV Golf star Dustin Johnson says he will 'grind' for another 6 years before he steps away from the game: "I think I've got another six years in me. I can grind for another six years. And then I'm going fishing." He added: I want to get back..."Because I know I've still got it.""

Johnson's comments came at a time when he had missed the cut in five of his last seven major appearances. A 10th-place finish at LIV Golf's Virginia event gave him the confidence. The longtime Florida resident is passionate about boating and fishing. He often retreats to the sea with his children and father-in-law, hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

In addition to that, Johnson's net worth is estimated to be around $100 million (via Celebrity Net Worth). It is boasted by his career earnings that exceed $150 million when factoring in both PGA Tour and LIV golf payouts.

Johnson earned $125 million to join LIV Golf in 2022, after a long-standing career with the PGA Tour. Moreover, he has endorsement deals from TaylorMade, Hublot, adidas, and NetJets. Now, Dustin Johnson prepares for the 2025 US Open at Oakmont Country Club, one of the toughest golf courses.

Dustin Johnson reflects on Oakmont's course challenge ahead of the US Open

Entering the 2025 US Open, Dustin Johnson opened up about the course's daunting character. He believed that Oakmont still stood out as the most punishing course he's ever faced.

While talking with the reporters, Johnson was asked to name the hardest course he's played in his career. He responded by saying:

"Probably this one. Is there a runner-up? I mean, I don't know. I haven't played one. I don't know. It's hard to compare, but I mean, I've played some hard courses, but it all depends on the conditions. You know, this one's hard no matter what. It's all firm, windy, no wind."

Oakmont's fast greens, bunkers, and sloping fairways have tested many elite golfers. During the 2016 US Open, Johnson kicked off his opening round with a 3-under 67, tying for the lead. He followed that up with rounds of 69, 71, and 69, securing the title with a three-stroke lead over Shane Lowry, Jim Furyk, and Scotty Piercy.

However, in the final round, Johnson was controversially penalized for a rule infraction mid-round. Later, he responded with a sinking birdie on the 9th and capped his win with a six-foot putt on 18 to seal the deal. Now, nearly nine years later, Dustin Johnson returns to Oakmont.
