News broadcaster Piers Morgan showed off his net eagle after a bad shot at the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The English journalist teed it up at this week's DP World Tour event, which featured a stellar field of professional and amateur players.
Morgan, who has a net worth of $20 million (according to Celebrity Net Worth), teamed up with Matthew Jordan for the event in Scotland. He had a terrible shot during the first round of the tournament when playing at the Old Course at St Andrews. Sky Sports shared a post about Morgan's shot, writing:
"'That isn't even his worst shot today!' 🫣 Piers Morgan and Sir Steve Redgrave failing to impress off the tee 🤣"
However, during the third round of the tournament, Morgan had some good shots while playing at Kingsbarns Golf Course. He took to his X account, tagging the media outlet and showing off his net eagle. He wrote:
"Hi @SkySportsGolf - I know you like to only show my bad shots at @dunhilllinks .. so here’s my second net eagle of the day so far at Kingsbarns. We’re only on hole 8. @dragonjones."
Morgan and Jordan played an impressive game at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. However, the tournament had a cutline after 54 holes, and only the top 20 teams made it to the final round on Sunday, 6 October. They finished with a score of 27-under and missed the cut.
A look into Morgan and Jordan's performance at the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
Matthew Jordan and Piers Morgan started their campaign at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at the Old Course at St Andrews. They began with a birdie on the first hole and went on to add five back-to-back birdies from the fourth to the eighth holes on the front nine of round one. They added three more birdies on the back nine for a round of 9-under 63.
After their strong start, they competed at Carnoustie Golf Course for the second round and again started with a birdie on the first hole. They shot three birdies and a bogey on the front nine, and two birdies and an eagle on the back nine for a round of 6-under 66.
In the third round, the duo shot eight birdies and two eagles to score 12-under 60. However, it was not enough to make the cut, and they settled in a tie for 25th place.
In the individual event for professionals, Jordan made the cut. The 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is slated to conclude with the final on Sunday, 6 October.
Play has already started, and at the time of writing, Jordan is tied for eighth place in the individual event. He has yet to begin his round.
