The DP World Tour and Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia will resume their run in Australia this weekend with the 2024 ISPS Handa Australian Open. The event will tee off on Thursday, November 28, at the Kingston Heath Golf Club and The Victoria Golf Club.
The upcoming edition of the Australian Open will feature 156 players, headlined by PGA Tour star Min Woo Lee. The World No. 49 golfer will also be the highest-rated player and the only top-50 Official World Golf Ranking player at the event, as several big names have decided to sit the competition out.
Notably, the event’s reigning champion and LIV Golf star Joaquin Niemann also returns to defend his title.
The ISPS Handa Australian Open will also feature Australian PGA Championship winner Elvis Smylie. Last week’s runner-up and fan favorite Cam Smith will also compete this weekend. At the four-day event, Lee, Smith and others will be joined by the likes of Lucas Herbert, Cameron Davis, Marc Leishman and Harry Higgs.
The Australian Open will see players compete for a $1,700,000 purse. It is pertinent to note that the Women's Australian Open will also be played simultaneously on the same courses for an equal prize purse.
