The 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs will come to an end with the Tour Championship, which will be held from August 29 to September 1 at the East Lake Golf Course. The top 30 golfers in the current FedEx Cup rankings will play the Tour Championship.
The FedEx Cup boasts an incredible prize purse of $100 million, which will be distributed after the culmination of the Tour Championship. The winner of the Tour Championship will be declared as the winner of the FedEx Cup and will take home $25 million, a $7 million increase from last year.
The second-place finisher in the rankings will take home $12.5 million and the third-place finisher will take home $7.5 million.
The Tour Championship has a slightly different format than a regular golf tournament. Scottie Scheffler, who is currently leading the FedEx Cup rankings, will get a 10 stroke advantage going into the final leg of the playoffs.
Xander Schauffele, number 2 in the rankings, gets an 8 stroke advantage. The stroke advantage reduces as the list moves down, ending with even for the golfers who are at the bottom of the rankings. This way, the golfers leading the rankings get a bigger advantage going into the final tournament.
