The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters is set to begin in a few hours. This penultimate event of the DP World Tour regular season will start on Thursday, October 26 at Doha Golf Club.

A field of 132 golfers will gather at the Doha Golf Club over the next four days. Although none of the players in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings will be present at this week's event, several DP World Tour regulars aim to secure their spots in the finale event in Dubai and their tour cards for the next season.

Here's a closer look at five players to watch at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 2023.

5 players to look forward to at the 2023 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters

1) Ewen Ferguson

Ewen Ferguson entered the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters field last year as someone who was yet to win on the European Tour. In his only appearance at the event before, he had missed the cut.

However, over the next four days, Ferguson posted rounds of 67, 71, 73 and 70 to finish at 7-under, which was enough to secure his first-ever title on the DP World Tour. He edged out Chase Hanna by a one-stroke margin in his 37th start on the tour and his sixth since earning full membership in 2021.

This year, the 27-year-old Scot arrives with two titles, having also won the ISPS Handa World Invitational last year. Speaking of his recent form, he has achieved top-ten finishes in his last five starts and currently holds the 43rd position in the Race to Dubai Rankings.

2) Matt Wallace

Matt Wallace won the Corales Puntacana Championship earlier this year and has already secured a victory on the PGA Tour in the same year. Since then, he has maintained decent form.

On the DP World Tour, Wallace finished as a runner-up at the D+D Real Czech Masters. Speaking of his recent performance, he has achieved two top-six finishes. His most recent appearance at the Doha Golf Club was in 2019, where he finished 19th.

3) Matthieu Pavon

Matthieu Pavon has been in fine form recently, and his chances of winning a second trophy in just one month are quite high. He has achieved three top-ten finishes in his last five starts on the DP World Tour.

Pavon has appeared in the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters six times and made the cut in five of them. His best finish here was a T21 in 2020.

4) Thorbjørn Olesen

Thorbjørn Olesen has been in excellent form this season. He has missed just three cuts this year, won the Thailand Classic and achieved several top-10 finishes.

In his nine starts at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, Olesen has secured two top-three finishes. His best performance was a joint runner-up finish in 2016, and he tied for twelfth last year.

5) Aaron Rai

Aaron Rai is returning to the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters after skipping the event last year. His best finish here was a T19 in his debut in 2019.

The 28-year-old Englishman missed the cut in his most recent appearance on the DP World Tour at the Cazoo Open de France. But, he was last seen at the PGA Tour's Zozo Championship last week, where he finished T22. He will be hoping to end the season with at least one win.
