Ripper GC celebrate their win at the LIV Golf Adelaide

LIV Golf Adelaide witnessed the first sudden-death playoff finish in LIV Golf's history as Ripper GC beat Stinger GC to claim their first title of the season and second overall win.

After the regulation holes, both Ripper GC and Stinger GC were tied at 53-under. This led to the first-ever playoff finish, where both team captains, Cameron Smith and Louis Oosthuizen, made a bogey. In the second extra hole, Ripper's Mark Leishman secured a par while Stinger's Dean Burmester failed to match, resulting in the victory for the all-Australian squad.

One sports enthusiast Ernie praised the LIV Golf Adelaide on X(formerly Twitter).

"I have watched golf my entire life," he wrote. "I have never seen anything like this. And I mean that in the most positive way possible. Traditionalists may not enjoy what just happened in Adelaide, but that was one of the most fun and electric sporting events I've ever seen! Congrats to @rippergc_ on finishing this out! Phenomenal tournament!!

Other fans were also thrilled with such a finish at the Saudi-backed circuit and expressed their sentiments on social media. Here's a look at some of the reactions:

"Totally agree," one user wrote. "Absolutely riveting stuff👏"
"I think I am going to make the trip to Australia next year," another fan posted. "Incredible."
"It was great for everyone except PGA fan boys," one fan commented.
"It’s pretty cool the LIV team event went into a playoff, while the same weekend the PGA have their team event and it’s putting everybody to sleep," one user opined.
"Only because of the team playoff," one fan had a different opinion. "If the tournament had ended with Brendan Steele winning, it would have been nothing special. As it was, it was good for LIV and shows that they should probably go more in the direction of match play.
"Wondering if this will be that one moment that changes the course of a sport, like the UFC had that one fight with Forrest griffin that turned it into what it is today," one user wrote.
