Alan Shipnuck sheds light on his ‘edgy relationship’ with Justin Thomas - “On a human element, it doesn't feel great”

Golf reporter Alan Shipnuck recently criticized Justin Thomas in response to an excerpt from his latest book, LIV and Let Die. Shipnuck admitted that he and JT have always had an "edgy relationship."

Although the golf biographer previously replied to the criticism in an interview with The Times, he has now provided additional information on the topic. In a recent conversation with Barstool Sports, Shipnuck, a longtime writer for Sports Illustrated and Golf Magazine went on to talk about the two-time Major winner.

"Yeah, it's a little disorienting and it's obviously not, you know on a human element, it doesn't feel great,” Shipnuck said.

He further gives a direct answer to the American professional golfer’s tweet:

“Justin, you are going to make more money finishing dead last in a no cut, elevated event than anyone on the golf beat is going to make.”

Furthermore, Shipnuck clarifies that Justin Thomas rarely appears in his new book because he doesn't find anything about his life or career worth telling about.

“We've always had this edgy relationship, like he's not even a figure in this book," he revealed. "He can't say I've ever burned him because I've never dealt with him really. I just give him a wide berth because I don't find anything about his life or career worth telling from my perspective.”

Justin Thomas feels sick of Alan Shipunck

Earlier this month, when the LIV and Let Die book wasn’t even published, the rift between the players as well as Shipnuck began to flare up.

As some spicy parts came out from the advance copies and an excerpt released by the Fire Pit Collective, Thomas questioned the veracity of Shipnuck's findings in his book.

Well, an extract was cited concerning an unnamed Ryder Cup player allegedly blasting Rory McIlroy over his public stance in the PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf issue.

Justin Thomas wrote on social media:

"I'd like to speak on behalf of a lot of Tour players and say we're sick of @AlanShipnuck doing what he does. Bring positivity and good stories to help grow the game of golf, not try and make money bashing guys, earning zero trust, with a lot of incorrect information. Ridiculous."

Furthermore, Brooks Koepka, the five times Major Champion, also jumped into the conversation and wrote:

"And LIV players."
