World No.1 Jon Rahm was forced to withdraw from the Players Championship due to unavoidable health issues. The Spaniard started with a one-under-par 71 in the inaugural round of the tournament to secure the 32nd position.

Rahm started the first round of the tournament on the tenth hole at TPC Sawgrass. He did not have a good start to the game and missed a few holes only to have a birdie on the 16th hole.

He got back in the game after making another birdie on the 18th hole. However, for the rest of the game, he did not have any impressive shots and finished the round with a bogey on the eighth hole.

After 18 holes in the first round, Rahm settled for 71 only to finish at a score of one. He was looking to bounce back in the second round but unfortunately, he needs to withdraw from the tournament due to illness.

PGA officials confirmed the news on their Twitter.

"Sick of winning"- Fans react to Jon Rahm's withdrawal from the Players Championship

Jon Rahm is living the best days of his successful career. Having started the new year with a trophy at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, Rahm has won three PGA Tour events dating back to January 2023.

As he withdrew his name from the Players Championship, fans jokingly talked about his wins in the comments section of the post shared by the PGA Tour about his withdrawal. One user tweeted:

"Sick of winning"

People also prayed for his speedy recovery and wrote:

"Oh no. Hope he gets well soon"

One fan explained the pain of the people who bet on Jon Rahm in the tournament.

"People who waste their money betting are in shambles rn."

The Players Championship is set to conclude on March 12, Sunday. However, the tournament has been heavily affected by the bad weather and it is now difficult to wrap up with the finale on Sunday. The match was suspended after the second round due to bad weather.

After the first round, low-ranked American golfer Chad Ramey took the lead by one stroke over Collin Morikawa.

Jon Rahm was grouped with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler to start the tee-off. While the 2022 Masters winner had a good start to the tournament and finished in T6 after the opening round, McIlroy struggled with his performance and was settled in T118 after Thursday's round. With the tournament suspended after the second round, the Northern Irish golfer is yet to take his shot for the second day.

After the semi-finished second round of The Players Championship, Christiaan Benzuidenhout is leading the tournament with a score of under eight alongside Adam Svensson. Ben Griffin settled for the third position and so did Min Woo Lee and Collin Morikawa, who are yet to start the second round.

Taylor Pendrith and Scottie Scheffler are securing the sixth position followed by Will Gordon, Jason Day, Viktor Hovland, Denny McCarthy, Byeong Hun An, Adam Hadwin, and Chad Ramey in eighth place.
