Brooks Koepka knows how historic Scottie Scheffler's year was, but he believes Bryson DeChambeau also had a terrific season. Scheffler won nine events including a major, the Olympics, and the Tour Championship. Koepka believes that if he and DeChambeau had been on the same tour as Scheffler, things might have gone differently.

Koepka began by praising Scheffler via Golf Monthly:

“Scottie had a hell of a year. I think it’s arguably one of the best years the Tour has ever seen."

The LIV star also spoke about how good DeChambeau played this year:

“Bryson had a hell of a year - he played 10 times better than I did. I played with him enough to know what he could have done on the PGA Tour. We all have a good feel how we would have fared on any tour."

Koepka said Scheffler still "would have won a lot of his golf tournaments" before adding:

“But I think we would have put up a good fight. It would have been interesting.”

Koepka will get the chance to put this theory to the test at the Showdown this month. He and DeChambeau will be matched up against Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, so it will be as close of a head-to-head between Scheffler and DeChambeau as there can be.

It is also the closest thing to a head-to-head between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, though neither tour is officially involved with this event.

Brooks Koepka opens up on past rift with Bryson DeChambeau

When Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka were on the PGA Tour, they didn't have a good relationship. There was a rift between them, and neither side was truly willing to make things right with the other.

That has since changed. Now tourmates once again on LIV Golf, they have forged a stronger relationship. Brooks Koepka believes going to LIV was what helped change things via Golf.com:

“We were forced — well, I don’t want to say forced — but we were communicating a lot more, our conversation became a lot more open. From there, I’m the first person to admit I can be a bit stubborn.”

He went on to say they both have gotten older and more mature:

“Then you realize, hey, Bryson’s a good dude. I think he’s severely misunderstood, and I think the world is starting to see who Bryson DeChambeau is, which is cool. I’m the first person to admit it: I was wrong with what my original thoughts were.”

They have since become friends and are two of the most prominent faces on LIV Golf. This month, they'll team up for the first time in a long time to try and take down PGA Tour's Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
