Bryson DeChambeau calls matchup vs Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler a 'match for the ages'

Bryson DeChambeau recently shared his excitement of playing a LIV Golf vs PGA Tour showdown match. He will team up with Brooks Koepka against the PGA Tour duo of Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.

While DeChambeau and Scheffler are the major champions this year and have won two majors each, Koepka and McIlroy have won five and four majors, respectively. The four absolute superstars of the game are set to take on each other this December.

On Saturday, October 19, Bryson DeChambeau shared his excitement on X.

"It’s official, Brooks and I will be taking on Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlory in a 18 hole match on December 17th. This is going to be one for the ages"

The 18-hole match between PGA Tour professionals and LIV Golfers is named "The Showdown." The event will take place at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada. Notably, Shadow Creek is not new to hosting made-for-TV events, having hosted the first-ever edition of Capital One's The Match, also known as Tiger vs. Phil.

The Showdown will be played in a similar format to the Netflix Cup, The Match, and the original match. Further, the event will be broadcast by Turner Sports. TNT will telecast the event, though the broadcast time has yet to be announced.

How was the 2024 season for Bryson DeChambeau?

The 31-year-old golfer had a memorable season when we look at his performance in the majors. He won the U.S. Open, beating Rory McIlroy by one stroke. He also finished runner-up at the PGA Championship and finished T6 at the Masters Tournament.

Although Bryson DeChambeau failed to win on the LIV Golf circuit this year, he achieved six top-ten finishes.
