Left-handed golfer Phil Mickelson has missed the cut at the ongoing 2024 PGA Championship. The 53-year-old golfer missed the cut at this year's second Major championship as he finished T115th in the field of 155.

Mickelson carded 74 and 72 respectively, and scored +4 for the event. According to the rules, only the top 70 golfers make it to the final two rounds. Currently, the projected cut line is at -1, with Xander Schauffele leading the tournament with a score of -12.

The two-time PGA Championship winner had a disappointing start to his round on day one as he began his round with a bogey and a double bogey. However, Mickelson made a surprising comeback in the middle phase as he remained bogey-free and carded four birdies on holes 7, 8, 10, and 14.

Phil Mickelson was looking all set to finish his round on a high and remain in the top half of the leaderboard before a string of bogeys on holes 15 and 16 pushed him below. Adding to the misery, he finished his round with a double bogey pushing him to the bottom half of the leaderboard.

Hence, Mickelson needed a miraculous second round to make it to the weekend. Unfortunately, the lefty could only card +1 for the day with 3 bogeys and 2 birdies and finished in the bottom half of the leaderboard.

This was Mickelson's second Major championship of the year as he competed at the Augusta Nationals in the Masters. He managed to make the cut there and finished T43 for the event.
