Fans on social media have reacted to reports claiming that the DP World Tour (DPWT) has rejected LIV Golf's attempt to clear Jon Rahm's fines in order to make him eligible to compete in European Tour events. The Spanish golfer needs to compete in at least four DPWT events by the end of this year to retain his membership on the circuit and remain eligible to compete in the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Recently, a source familiar with the situation between the DPWT and LIV Golf reportedly told Sports Illustrated (SI) about the Saudi-backed circuit's attempt to pay the fines. However, the European Tour allegedly denied the offer.
Nuclr Golf shared the news on its X (formerly Twitter) account, with the caption saying:
"The DP World Tour recently rejected a proposal from LIV after the league attempted to remove sanctions on LIV Golfers. The deal would have wiped out the penalties being imposed on Jon Rahm and others in exchange for a monetary payout and various other concessions. The DPWT’s strategic alliance with the PGA TOUR is said to be a major factor in the decision making (via @SI_Golf)."
Fans took to the comments section to share their opinions on the reported DPWT decision, slamming them.
"Good for them. Discussions $$$$ have consequences," a fan wrote.
"Dumb DP. Dumb," another fan commented.
One fan called out the DPWT and suggested they accept the fines.
"A mistake by DP if true. They’ve become a feeder to the PGA Tour and are treated poorly. They had something LIV needs, and could have positioned their Tour very well if strategic," a fan jotted.
"My advice to @DPWorldTour- just because you chose the wrong door doesn’t mean you have to stay in the wrong room. Get away from @PGATOUR’s incompetent leadership," another fan wrote.

What is next for Jon Rahm?
Rahm recently competed at the LIV Golf Chicago event, where he registered a three-stroke victory over Joaquin Niemann and Sergio Garcia. He won his second tournament on the circuit, and with that, he also finished at number one in the season standings, earning $18 million in bonuses.
Next, Rahm will travel for the season-concluding LIV Golf Team Championship in Dallas. The tournament will take place at Maridoe Golf Club from September 20 to 22.
Meanwhile, this season on LIV Golf, Rahm has fared well, winning two events in his debut season. Moreover, he managed to finish inside the Top 10 throughout the season on the Saudi circuit. He was close to winning his second title in a row at the Greenbrier event but unfortunately lost in a playoff to Brooks Koepka.
