Golf at 2024 Paris Olympics: Round 3 tee times and pairings explored

Day 2 of the 2024 Olympics golf men’s competition ended with defending champion Xander Schauffele of Team USA sharing the lead with Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama and Great Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood. Notably, Schauffele posted a 5-under 66 on Friday, August 2, and tied the 36-hole Olympic record he set at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Fleetwood carded 64, while Matsuyama posted a 68. The trio sat at 11-under 131 after round 2’s play, two strokes ahead of Spain’s Jon Rahm (solo fourth) with 66. Belgium’s Thomas Detry, Chinese Taipei’s C.T. Pan, and South Korea’s Tom Kim shared T5.

Round 3 of the Olympics golf will begin at 3:00 am ET on Saturday, August 3, with Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat, New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier, and Colombia’s Camilo Villegas. The pairing of Chilean Mito Pereira, Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai, and local French hero Matthieu Pavon will follow suit at 3:11 am.

Round 2 leaders Schauffele, Matsuyama, and Fleetwood will enjoy a late tee-off at 6:39 am ET. The trio will follow the grouping of Rahm, Detry, and C.T. Pan, teeing up at 6:28 am.

Event favorite and World No.1 Scottie Scheffler sat T10 after 36 holes. He will tee off alongside South Africa’s Erik van Rooyen and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann at 6:06 am.

It is pertinent to note that golf at the Olympics does not have the traditional Friday cut and all golfers on the 60-man leaderboard have advanced to the third round. The gold, silver, and bronze medals, will be awarded on Sunday’s (August 4) final round.
