Wallace jumped 95 spots to 22nd in the Race to Dubai rankings after winning the Omega European Masters. Both Wallace and García-Heredia tied for first position after scoring 11-under 266 in the four rounds at the tournament.

The English player was recently called a 'polarising character' by Golf Influencer Tron Carter after he won the Omega European Masters. The co-founder of No Laying Up podcast took to X and wrote:

"Will pass on making a "Mike" joke and just say I dig it. Hope he’s on the squad at Bethpage."

The 2025 Ryder Cup will be held at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. He further wrote:

"Fiery, polarizing character who works his ass off and can create friction. I’ve come around on him since a few years ago when he berated his caddie. Puts it all out there."

Matt Wallace was caught on camera berating his caddie Sam Bernard at the 2023 Valspar Championship. On the last hole in the third round of the tournament, he carded a bogey. Wallace got into an argument with Bernard and was seen saying "Shut the f--- up" to him.

This is not the first time such an incident has taken place. In 2019, Matt Wallace was caught on camera berating his then-caddie Dave McNeill during the BMW International.
