Fans predicted Rory McIlroy's fate at the 2025 US Open. McIlroy will play at the US Open this weekend, the third major on the PGA Tour roster. Before the tournament started on Thursday, June 12, the ace golfer played a practice round at Oakmont Country Club on Wednesday, June 11.
A video of the practice round was shared by NUCLR Golf's X page, which asked a question:
“What place do you think Rory McIlroy will finish in this week at Oakmont?”
In response, a fan shared their opinion by showing a dilemma over the Northern Irishman’s chances to make the cutline. They wrote:
"He won’t even make the cut."
Another fan added:
"Misses the cut."
A fan took a jab at McIlroy's swing at Oakmont, writing:
“That was an horrendous swing at that ball regardless whether it was buried 2ft underground.”
A golf enthusiast shared how Rory McIlroy has been pessimistic about his performance after winning the Masters Tournament. The netizen penned down:
“He will probably miss the cut. He’s already publicly said it’s hard for him to find his motivation after winning the Masters & closing out the lifetime slam. Hell he got paid to show up in Canada & mailed it in for two days. I won’t miss him.”
Another fan shared similar thoughts, writing:
“Masters hangover continues and he misses the cut.”
Two more fans shared their views on whether McIlroy would make the cut line at Oakmont.

Last year, Rory McIlroy fell short by two shots of winning the US Open trophy. Bryson DeChambeau triumphed at the 2024 US Open with a total score of 6-under.
