How many world ranking spots did Davis Riley jump after his 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge win? OWGR explored

Charles Schwab Challenge - Final Round
Davis Riley made a huge jump in OWGR after winning the Charles Schwab Challenge

Following his win at the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge, Davis Riley made a huge jump in the latest OWGR update. He has climbed 172 spots in the Official World Golf Rankings to reach 78th, his best ranking since July.

Riley was ranked 250th in the world before entering the Colonial Golf Club and had been struggling with his performance lately. However, this week, he put all that behind him and performed remarkably on all four days. He started the tournament with a 68, then shot 64 and 66 to take a four-stroke lead after 54 holes.

In the final round, Riley fired an even-par 70, while Scottie Scheffler carded a 1-over 71 and failed to close the gap. Scheffler tied for second along with Keegan Bradley. The Charles Schwab Challenge is Riley's second win on the PGA Tour and his first in an individual event.

At the start of the PGA Tour 2024 season, Riley was ranked 140th in the OWGR, but his position plummeted after a poor start to the season. He missed seven cuts in 14 appearances until this week, and his rank kept dropping each week.

Notably, before his win at the Charles Schwab Challenge, Riley had not moved upward in the OWGR in 2024. However, after Sunday's win, he has made a significant jump and will look to capitalize on the momentum for the rest of the season.
