Michael Block has certainly made the 2023 PGA Championship memorable. The pro golf instructor is flourishing at Championship; he finished his third round at T8 and became one of only nine golfers to stay at or under par.

Making his first ever cut at a major also means that he will be making his highest-ever career earnings.

Michael Block has been consistent over the three rounds. Every day he has finished with a 70, at par.

The total prize purse for the 2023 PGA Championship this year is $17.5 million. If Block were to finish tied for eighth, where he is now, he would walk away with a whopping $500,000.

When asked about his past results, Block said this would, by far, be his biggest win. He said, via Golf Monthly:

"SEventy-five thousand dollars, 2014, Club Professional National Championship at the Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach. There was the 2001 California State Open for $4,500 for a long, long time, and when I got $75K in one tournament, I was very happy."

If Block were to finish in the top 15, he would also earn an invitation to the 2024 PGA Championship in Valhalla. However, Block's first goal is to enjoy himself at the Championship. Speaking about his love for golf, he said:

"I doubt if anybody on this entire property loves golf as much as I love golf. I've learned, at this point, to enjoy the moment, to sit back and relax and enjoy it because it goes by fast, and life goes by fast."

How Michael Block caught the eye of the world at the 2023 PGA Championship

Michael Block has had a fantastic weekend, with a performance that has been more consistent than most others. He's ahead of World No. 1 Jon Rahm, and his teaching skills are certainly translating into his play.

Block has appeared in 24 PGA Tour events over the span of his career, and has made the cut in only four of those. However, he was named the 2022 PGA Championship Professional Player of the Year, and his exceptional performance this year has caught the eye of the world.

Michael Block is optimistic and hopes to catch up to the leaders in the final round.

"They'd have to come back a little bit, but can I shoot three or four under? One hundred per cent, absolutely, especially if the fairways dry out a little bit. That would be a huge thing for me."
