Ian Poulter will be flying to the Orange County National Golf Club's Crooked Cat Course in Orlando, Florida, for this week’s LIV Golf event. The golfer has now revealed that he chose to fly a helicopter to and from the venue as a solution to navigate Orlando’s bad traffic.

Poulter on Thursday flew to his pro-am at the LIV Golf Invitational – Orlando, while many of his contenders took cars. The 47-year-old Englishman stated that he spent around six minutes in the air instead of a 40-plus-minute car ride from his residence near Lake Nona. The golfer, who is famous for owning a collection of luxury cars, stated that he left the cars at home despite knowing it was a short ride to avoid traffic.

Speaking about choosing a chopper over cars at a presser ahead of LIV Golf Orlando, Ian Poulter said, as quoted by Golf Digest:

“I've left them (cars) all at home today… I know we live very close, but we decided to SpeedBird, who help us fly around. Had an option to pop in on a helicopter this morning.”

Further slamming the Orlando traffic, the LIV golfer added that he might choose to travel in the chopper on all days of the event.

He said:

“Orlando traffic gets pretty busy at home. More time at home will be great.”

LIV Golf's Majesticks G.C. in plans to build a golf course in Orlando

Ian Poulter said that he rented a helicopter from the luxury air travel company SpeedBird. The Orlando-based company has one helicopter, the EC130B4, in its fleet and is now being used by Poulter. Emphasizing this, the former English Ryder Cup star added that he is using the chopper to visit several sites across the state where his LIV Golf side can build a golf course.

According to Poulter, his team, Majesticks G.C., is looking to build a golf course. Poulter revealed that he and his teammates, Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood and Sam Horsfield, were looking forward to owning a golf course.

He added:

“So, we're just kind of doing a site visit around Orlando to see if there's any cool areas where we may be able to build a Stix [Majesticks] stadium golf course. It took about six minutes door-to-door and made it very easy.”

Poulter’s revelations suggest that the Majesticks are ahead of other LIV Golf sides in their plan to expand. The franchise is already in the process of setting up its own golf course, which the other teams will also be planning.

Explaining the same, Poulter added:

“I would say we probably are (further along the plan). We've kind of been ahead of the curve on a number of aspects in getting the franchise set up. We have a great team of people behind us that we leave to do the day-to-day running of the business, which is their speciality, and our job is really to have as much time as we can focusing on our golf game so we don't finish 12th.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the LIV side plans its future with such endeavors in motion.
