Jon Rahm is not playing in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. The Spanish golfer participated in three DP World Tour events in the last few weeks, following the conclusion of the regular LIV Golf season.
Earlier in October, the two-time Major winner appeared on the "Golf Sin Etiquetas" podcast. He opened up about his schedule with the hosts, sharing that he would have some free time in November and would probably return to play in January.
Speaking of his schedule, Jon Rahm said:
"In 2024 I think it's time to rest, this Sunday will be my last round in competition and in November, vacations, I need it, and then I want to play something in January. I want to play something in January, so the option at the moment would be the Dubai Desert Classic. So you might see me there in Dubai" (translated from Spanish) [1:45:06].
Rahm struggled to compete in DP World Tour events for a time, as he had some outstanding fines. However, the Spaniard appealed against the DP World Tour fines and was eventually allowed to compete on the circuit.
To maintain his membership, the LIV golfer needed to play in four events on the DP World Tour. He had also participated in the Paris Olympics, which also counts as a Tour event, so he ended up playing the required number of tournaments on the circuit this season.
Jon Rahm welcomes his third child
A few weeks ago, Rahm and his wife welcomed their third child, a daughter. His wife, Kelley, gave birth to their baby girl in September 2024 while the Spaniard was preparing to compete at the Open De España. He skipped the pro-am to spend some time with his family ahead of the start of the event. However, he competed at the tournament and finished in T7 place.
Later, the two-time Masters winner shared pictures of his baby girl on his Instagram account. He posted a couple of pictures of his daughter and also his wife, writing:
"So blessed to have welcomed our daughter Alaia Cahill Rahm into the world last week. Mama and baby girl are both healthy and doing great, I can't wait to get back home to them.
Rahm then played at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and later at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, where he finished in sixth place. After a long, packed schedule, Rahm is now on a break and has time to spend with his family away from the greens.
Meanwhile, DP World Tour players will tee off at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. Some of the top-ranked players in the field include Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Adam Scott, and Robert MacIntyre, among others. The tournament will take place from November 7 to 10.
