“It’s sad” – European Tour pro Eddie Pepperell reacts to Bryson DeChambeau’s recent run of form

PIF Saudi International - Day One
Bryson DeChambeau has been struggling with his form for quite sometime

Bryson DeChambeau hasn't been in the greatest of form of late. Since joining the LIV Golf League, DeChambeau has been mediocre. His best finish came at last year's 150th Open, where he finished T-8.

DeChambeau missed the cut at the Saudi International earlier this year and finished at T-24 and T-44 in two LIV events. It is to be noted that only 48 players compete in Saudi-backed league events. His ranking plummeted as he slipped to 143rd position in the Original World Golf Rankings.

A recent tweet from Monday Q went viral which stated:

"It is WILD what has happened to Bryson. He is currently beating one player this week. Doesn’t have a better finish then 10th, on a no-cut, 48 player tour. It wasn’t long ago he was the most talked about player in golf and winning. Now basically a side note and lost."

DP World Tour professional Eddie Pepperell also reacted to the tweet.

He replied with:

"It's sad."

To which, fellow European Tour golfer Mike Lorenzo-Vera questioned:

"Is it ?"

Pepperell believes the California native has made some bad decisions.

"I think so. He is different and a great player who’s made some odd (bad, probably) decisions."

Few fans reacted to the current form of the former US Open winner.

Here's a look at a few of them:

"Eh, who cares. 8 wins in 140 starts, outside of his "big" drive he wasn't that special. Rory hits it just as far or further. not a loss to the PGA game in any way."
"Was he a great player or just a 1 hit wonder like many other players in the history of the tour? He talked a big game he couldn't back up. Calling ANGC a pat 68 for him and will never sniff a green jacket."
"All the golfers excitedly chased a bag of money & they have it, deposited...now what ? Playing totally meaningless no cut 48 player tour golf closer to a skins match than competitive golf they grew up playing & dreamed of. Craziest of all, gave up the dream for $ they didn't need."
"Man ! He’s been a pain in the a** for slow play ! Using a putter that (in my opinion) shouldn’t be allowed. He was a fantastic player , no problem ! But Sad ? I can’t see that…"
"Only playing against 47 others, no cut, cashing fat checks no matter how bad you play, long layoffs between events, all equals a diminishment in the skill set. Easy to get out of the groove of practice, not playing regularly. In a state of constant rustiness. Making $$$$$ 🙄"

Bryson DeChambeau will next be seen in the third LIV Golf event of the season, which will take place at the Orange County National. After LIV Golf Orlando, DeChambeau will look forward to the first major of the 2023 season, the Masters.

The 29-year-old hasn't been effective at Augusta National as his best finish here has been a T-21 in 2016. It will be interesting to see how he fares this time.
