John Daly’s son qualifies for the US Amateur at Hazeltine, just days after pro debut at KFT event

John Daly's son, John Daly II, has qualified for the US Amateur at Hazeltine after shooting a 2-under-68 at Brook Hollow in Dallas. Interestingly, this happened just a few days after he turned pro for a KFT event.

On Monday, July 22, The US Amateur Final Stage qualifying took place at the Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas Texas. The event was organized by Texas Golf Association and 16 spots were up for grabs.

Daly tied for 13th after shooting 68 in the only round. He picked up six birdies in the round but also made two bogeys and a double bogey.

Last month the 20-year-old son of John Daly made his professional debut at the Korn Ferry Tour's Compliance Solutions Championship. However, the debut was tough for the young golfer as he missed the cut by nine strokes.

Speaking of the Final Stage qualifying at Brook Hollow, Sterling Hurd, Leandro Mihaich and Andrew Tan tied at the top after shooting 5-under 65 on Monday. Here are all the sixteen players who have qualified for the US Amateur Championship:

The US Amateur Championship is set to be played from August 12 to August 18 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.

Have John Daly and John Daly II ever played together?

The father-son duo has played together several times at the PNC Championship. They won the championship in 2021. Team Daly has competed in the PNC Championship eight times and has also achieved two runner-up finishes apart from their win.

Daly II plays for the University of Arkansas and has performed quite well for them. He was a freshman in the 2021-22 season, but his breakthrough year was the 2023-24 season, during which he made six straight top-ten finishes—a record for the Razorbacks. He had a scoring average of 71.78 over 23 rounds.
