Justin Thomas had a ready experiment to stop the handicap conversation before the US Open. He will play at the Oakmont Country Club this week, which is known for its challenging terrain.

Before the tournament started, the DP World Tour asked the golf pros on X a question on June 11. They asked:

“What would an 18 handicap shoot this week at the US Open?”

In response, Justin Thomas shared an analysis on X. He wrote:

“So much talk about “what would X handicap shoot at Oakmont”… Why don’t we find a way to make it happen? Have a 5, 10, 18 whatever handicap play Monday after the @usopengolf. Back tees full rules of golf, and see what happens? May have to let a few groups thru and allow for 6-7 hours but I think we’re all here for it, no??”

Thomas missed the cutline in last year's US Open after shooting 77 and 74 over the two rounds.

Justin Thomas will tee off with Min Woo Lee and Brooks Koepka at 1:03 pm on hole one. Next to them, Sam Burns, Nico Echavarria, and Denny McCarthy will start at 1:14 pm on the same hole. Matt Vogt (a), Kevin Velo, and Trent Phillips are the first group to play at 6:46 am.
