LIV Golf kicks off its 2023 season today at the El Camaleon Golf Course in Mexico. The tournament at Mayakoba is scheduled to be held from February 24-27, 2023. Having overcome a frenzy of challenges, including the postponement of the event and the announcement of the final team roster in the eleventh hour, the season's opener is commencing today.

The contentious series announced the launch of two new entities, namely an app called LIV Golf Plus and a website called LIVGolfPlus.com yesterday via its Twitter page. This could help increase the global recognition of the newfound series alongside making the game more accessible. It could possibly attract an audience who have not followed the game before.

LIV Golf's new app and website to provide live access to the series' tournaments

The newly launched app and website will enable viewers from over 180 countries to watch the tournaments from their location at their convenience. This could garner a greater fan base for the sport overall since, according to the American National Golf Foundation, the sport has lost over five million viewers in the last decade.

ViewLift is powering the technology for the app. The international broadcast partners for the tournaments haven't been announced yet.

"The introduction of the LIV Golf Plus streaming app ensures fans around the world will receive direct access to live and on-demand coverage of our league’s groundbreaking launch,” said Will Staeger, LIV Golf Chief Media Officer.

He is confident that the introduction of the app will bring new fans to the sport of golf.

“In keeping with the content distribution strategy of other major sports leagues, the LIV Golf Plus streaming app allows more access to our content from more places for more people, spanning the traditional golf consumer to the casual sports and entertainment viewer discovering golf for the first time," he said.
"We are thrilled to bring our innovative coverage of the game’s biggest stars including Cam Smith, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson to the sport’s global fanbase and are excited to grow our content offering on LIV Golf Plus in the coming seasons to drive deeper connections between viewers and our athletes in every corner of the world," he added.

The broadcast will entail detailed drone coverage, distinctive live leaderboards, graphics for statistics and rapid coverage featuring twice as many golf shots as the conventional coverage. Additionally, the broadcast will also feature an on-air announcement team with esteemed personalities, namely Arlo White, David Feherty, Jerry Foltz, Su-Ann Heng, Dom Boulet, and Troy Mullins.
