Richard Bland wins the 2024 Senior PGA Championship

LIV golfer Richard Bland fired an 8-under 63 on Sunday, May 26, to win the 2024 Senior PGA Championship. His best round of the week helped him to an aggregate score of 17-under, finishing three strokes ahead of Richard Green.

Bland was making his debut at the Senior PGA Championship after receiving a special exemption from the PGA of America. He didn't waste the exemption, starting with rounds of 64 and 66 on the first two days. Although he slipped to third after shooting a 74 on Saturday, his final round helped him clinch his first-ever senior major. He sank eight birdies, two bogeys, and one eagle in the fourth round.

During the winner's press conference, Bland said he was trying to take it all in at the moment, as it had yet to sink in.

"I'm sure glad I wrote that email in kind of December to Bob Jeffrey," he said as per ASAP Sports. "As I just said in the champion's toast, I got an invite last year. PGA of America kindly invited me lasts year but I couldn't fulfill the obligation of playing. It clashed with another event.
"And, yeah, I checked the schedule around December last year and saw that it was a free week, and I reached out to Bob and he came back and said, yeah, we would love to come have you play.

Green finished runner-up at the Senior PGA Championship after shooting a low 65 on Sunday. He birdied four holes, made two bogeys, and then sank a couple of eagles toward the end.

Greg Chalmers, who had a 54-hole lead, slipped to third after shooting a 3-under 68. He was looking good to win at one point with an aggregate of 16-under with just four holes to go. However, he lost the plot after that and bogeyed three straight holes, closing the week at 13-under.
