What did Matt Fitzpatrick say after winning his last US Open?

Matt Fitzpatrick won the US Open in 2022, and the golfer joined the post-tournament presser at the Country Club to share his victory. He added that he had expectations throughout the week but didn't feel them. His words read ( via ASAP Sports):

“Yeah, it's just -- the feeling's out of this world. It is so cliche, but it's stuff you dream of as a kid. Yeah, to achieve it, I can retire a happy man tomorrow…I think there were expectations, but I didn't feel them, in my opinion. The field's such a strong field, so many great golfers playing…I just felt so comfortable around this place. Know where to hit it; know where to miss it.”

Fitzpatrick continued to share whether he believed in destiny before winning the major tournament or not. He said:

“Yes and no. Actually, no, I'd say yes. Billy had been saying for a while, the time will come. You're playing so well…I put myself in position after two rounds and then played well yesterday. I just really believed this could be the time. Yeah, for whatever reason, because of my success here before, it just felt like this was the time.”

Matt Fitzpatrick won by defeating Scottie Scheffler with a one-shot lead. The golfer scored 6 under with 68 in the first round after shooting five birdies in total. He fired 70 in the second round with two birdies on the front nine and two on the back nine. In the third and fourth rounds, he fired 68 with five birdies in each.
