Meet Christiaan Benzuidenhout and Adam Svensson, surprise leaders at Players Championship

Christiaan Benzuidenhout and Adam Svensson took a surprise lead at the Players Championship before the tournament was suspended during the second round. The golfers shared the top position with a score deficit of eight.

Benzuidenhout started the first round of the tournament with a birdie on the second hole. He made three birdies and one bogey in the opening round to finish at 68 to wrap up with a scoring deficit of four.

On the second day, he started the match on the 10th hole with a birdie on the 11th hole. He then sank another birdie on the 16th hole and then on the first and fourth holes. He will resume the game from the sixth hole and only play the last four holes.

Adam Svensson also finished at a score of under eight after an unfinished second round. He started with a birdie on the second hole in the opening round. Svensson sank five birdies and one bogey in the opening round to finish at 68 with a score under four.

He started the second round with a birdie on the 11th hole and made four birdies before the game was suspended due to bad weather. He will resume the game from the third hole when the game starts on Saturday, March 11 at 7:00 am.


The professional career of Christiaan Benzuidenhout

South African professional golfer Christiaan Benzuidenhout started his professional golfing journey in 2015. He started playing on the Sunshine Tour before earning a card for the PGA Tour.

Although he turned professional in early 2015, success knocked on his door in September when he won two 36-hole events on the Big Easy Tour. He lost in the playoffs but won the order of merit.

He began playing at the Sunshine Tour Q school in December and won the first event of his career at the 2016 BMW SA Open. Benzuidenhout finished runner-up to Brandon Stone.

Christiaan Benzuidenhout won 10 professional events, including three European tours and four Sunshine Tours. He is looking for his first PGA Tour victory.


The professional career of Adam Svensson

Adam Svensson was born on 31 December 1993 in Surrey, Canada. He attended Earl Marriott Secondary School.

During his amateur career, Svensson won a bronze medal in the 2010 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup and then a silver medal at the Eisenhower Trophy in 2014.

Svensson started his professional career in 2015 after leaving college. He started playing on the Canadian Tour and finished runner-up twice.

In 2015, Adam Svensson received a medal at Web.com Tour qualifying school and earned fully exempt status for the next season.

He won the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic in 2019 and finished in the top 20 on the regular money list, earning a PGA Tour card. However, he lost his card only to earn it back in 2021.

He won his first PGA Tour event at the 2022 RSM Classic after defeating Brian Harman, Callam Tarren, and Sahith Theegala.

Adam Svensson has won four professional events in his career so far, including one PGA Tour and three Korn Ferry Tours.
