Morgan Stanley raise $255K at the 2023 Players Championship under 'Eagles for Impact' program

The Players Championship is not just about golf professionals making money out of their game. There is a goodwill aspect to the tournament as well. The Players, along with Morgan Stanley, runs a program called Eagles for Impact, under which the firm pledges to raise $5000 for every eagle made in the tournament.

This year was another successful year for the Eagles for Impact Challenge as there were a total of 51 Eagles carded in four days at the TPC Sawgrass. It helped Morgan Stanley to raise $255K for The First Tee, a non-profit organization run by World Golf Foundation.

The amount raised will be used to support the recruitment, growth, and retention of diverse golf coaches to mentor the upcoming generation. Till last year, Morgan Stanley donated more than $1.2 million via their Eagles for Impact program.

“This program provides a great opportunity to bring our Firm’s core values into action and support a key mission of Morgan Stanley’s Institute for Inclusion – advancing equity through giving to underrepresented groups in the communities where we live and work. It’s just one of the many ways we drive diversity, equity, and inclusion for the next generation,” said Alice Milligan last year.

Morgan Stanley has signed 11-time PGA TOUR champion Justin Rose, professional golfer Cheyenne Woods, and two-time WTA champion Leylah Fernandez as their brand ambassadors.

“One of my favorite elements of being a brand ambassador for Morgan Stanley is our shared commitment to opening doors and providing education opportunities for all kids. As a player, great golf shots are even more rewarding when they are in support of driving positive change in the game," Justin Rose was quoted last year by Morgan Stanley.

Apart from 'Eagle for Impact', the Players Championship also runs a 'Birdies for Charity' campaign. It allows local charities to get funding through a challenge during the Championship.

The organization asks shareholders to guess the number of birdies that will be made during the tournament. The person who guesses the correct or almost correct number receives a prize of $10,000. If there is a tie, a tie-breaker question will be asked.

Scottie Scheffler returns to World no. 1 in the OWGR after winning the 2023 Players Championship

Scottie Scheffler concluded the 2023 Players Championship with a 3-under 69 to finish at 17 under at TPC Sawgrass on Sunday, March 12. He beat Tyrrell Hatton by a 5-stroke margin. Hatton jumped 24 spots on Sunday with a low score of 7 under 65. Hatton started slowly with just under par after 36 holes but made a great comeback in the last two rounds.

Viktor Hovland and Tom Hoge were tied for third at TPC Sawgrass with a score of 10-under. Hoge was close to missing the cut after two rounds but made an incredible jump after an all-time low score in the Players' third round. He posted 62 on Saturday with 10 bogeys. A 70 in the fourth round meant he had to finish at T-3.

Hideki Matsuyama finished in solo fifth place with Max Homa concluding in sixth in a seven-way tie alongside David Lingmerth, Justin Rose, Justin Suh, Min Woo Lee, Sungjae Im, and Cam Davis.
