Day 1 of the 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open ended with two Canadians in the lead. Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin surprised many as they shared the top spot on Thursday at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona. They beat the likes of Xander Schauffele, Jason Day, and Jim Herman to take the lead. The first full-field designated event of the 2023 season, the WM Phoenix Open started off with a bang. The $20 million purse event teed off with a star-studded field, which featured the likes of World No. 1 Rory McIlroy, No. 2 Scottie Scheffler, and No. 3 Jon Rahm, among others. All the big names, however, seem to be struggling on the Arizona field.PGA TOUR@PGATOURLeaderboard @WMPhoenixOpen after Round 1 play was suspended due to darkness T1. @NTaylorGolf59 (-5)T1. @AHadwinGolfT3. @XSchauffele (-4)T3. @GoHermieT3. @JDayGolfT6. @Hoffman_Charley (-3)T6. @StallingsGolfT6. @TaylorMooreGolfT6. @JonRahmPGAT6. +4 more players at -37116Leaderboard @WMPhoenixOpen after Round 1 play was suspended due to darkness ⛳️T1. @NTaylorGolf59 (-5)T1. @AHadwinGolfT3. @XSchauffele (-4)T3. @GoHermieT3. @JDayGolfT6. @Hoffman_Charley (-3)T6. @StallingsGolfT6. @TaylorMooreGolfT6. @JonRahmPGAT6. +4 more players at -3It is pertinent to note that play was delayed on Thursday due to frost.
