Robert MacIntyre clinches 2024 Genesis Scottish Open with thrilling final holes game
The conclusion of the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open was thrilling, piquing the interest of golf fans, including PGA Tour pro Sahith Theegala.
Robert MacIntyre entered the final round of the PGA Tour-DP World Tour co-sponsored event two strokes behind third-round leader Ludvig Åberg. In the finale, however, MacIntyre and Adam Scott were on fire while Åberg had a rough outing.
As Robert MacIntyre approached the 16th hole, Scott was in the lead. However, MacIntyre made an eagle on the hole, which turned the game in his favor.
MacIntyre cleverly used the golf rule to get relief on the 16th hole after encountering a sprinkler head while preparing to take his second shot. It was a par-5 hole, and his ball had landed in thick grass.
While practicing his shot, MacIntyre spotted the sprinkler head, and as it was an immovable object, he was granted a free drop. He made perfect use of the opportunity, converting the shot into an impressive eagle. He then went on to make a birdie on the 18th hole, ultimately lifting the trophy of the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open.
