The death of Grayson Murray has had a massive impact on the world of golf. Multiple tributes have been paid to him, both on social networks and in different tournaments and circuits.

During the final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA Tour, players wore red and black ribbons to honor Grayson Murray. The event at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, was the last event Murray played, as he withdrew from the event during the second round.

Grayson Murray wore the colors red and black when he played on Sundays. This was the reason his family members asked the PGA Tour to honor him with these colors during the final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge, which is being played this Sunday, May 26.

Murray withdrew after playing 16 holes of the second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge, citing illness. A day later it was learned of his passing.

During the 2024 season, Grayson Murray had acknowledged that he had struggled with depression and alcohol addiction during his career. However, he had his second PGA Tour victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii earlier in the year.

Other tributes to Grayson Murray

Grayson Murray was honored Sunday at the Korn Ferry Tour's 2024 Visit Knoxville Open. After the final group of the event teed off, three minutes of silence were held to honor Murray, who had three tour victories under his belt.

Players such as Webb Simpson, Peter Malnati, Ahshay Bhatia, Byeong Hun An, Brandt Snedeker and Bubba Watson left their tributes on different social networks, including Instagram and X.

Also on social networks reacted institutions such as the LPGA Tour, the Mizuno brand, one of Murray's main sponsors, and the Carolina Hurricanes, the ice kockey team with which the late player sympathized.

Murray's parents issued a press release on Sunday informing that the cause of their son's death was suicide.

The family members also thanked the golf world for all the tributes and expressions of sympathy received since the news of their son's death. They also asked for respect for his privacy in order to overcome his loss.

Murray had a nine-season career in professional golf, alternating between the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour. His sporting results were affected by his off the course problems, but he was able to demonstrate his talent with three victories on the feeder tour and two others at the highest level.

In the Korn Ferry Tour he played 53 tournaments with 14 Top 10s, including his three victories. On the PGA Tour he played 140 tournaments, with 10 Top 10s, including his wins at the 2017 Barbasol Championship and the 2024 Sony Open.
