Phil Mickelson has come close to winning the US Open on many occasions. In 33 starts and 26 cuts made, he posted a second-place finish in six appearances.
His first runner-up finish came at the 1999 US Open at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club No. 2 Course. He posted rounds of 67, 70, 73, and 70 to total even par for the week.
After four more second-place finishes, the LIV Golf star most recently tied for second place in 2013. The Merion Golf Club's East Course saw Mickelson total 3 over par to place two strokes behind winner Justin Rose.
