"Put myself there": Tommy Fleetwood reflects on his approach to winning more tournaments

English professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood is currently in Dubai to play at the DP World Tour's Dubai Desert Classic. This event in the Middle Eastern country will be Fleetwood's first event since the DP World Tour Championship which took place in November 2024.

Ahead of the Dubai Desert Classic, Fleetwood was part of a press conference at the Emirates Golf Club, where the golfer was reminded of his successful 2024 and was further questioned about what would it take for him to win more often.

Tommy Fleetwood answered:

"Yeah, it's tough to win. You can look at any number of things that would produce more wins but I think, you know, ultimately, trying to stay as consistent as possible, put myself in those positions as much as possible. I think one of the greatest winners of my generation, well, if not the greatest, is Rory. Rory puts himself in those situations all the time and wins plenty as a result of it."

Further, Tommy Fleetwood spoke about looking at the best players on the Tour like Scottie Scheffler. He mentioned he wanted to continue improving his all-round game while putting himself in a position to win as a result of that. Fleetwood also added:

"I think, of course, like I say, you can look at any time you're in contention, you look at, Oh, I could have done this better, or I could have done that better, or I hit a poor shot there or that could have gone different. But just continue to be consistent, put myself there, and hopefully my time will continue to come more often as the time goes on."

In 2024, Tommy Fleetwood did not win a single event on the PGA Tour. However, it's worth noting that Fleetwood was victorious at the DP World Tour's Dubai Invitational which was held in January 2024.
