Rickie Fowler's ex-caddie Joe Skovron has lauded Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim's actions at the Presidents Cup. Tom played his second Presidents Cup after playing in 2022 while Si Woo played his third Presidents Cup after playing in 2017 and 2022.
In conversation with Drew Stoltz on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio show Gravy & The Sleeze, Skovron said that what kept him glued to TV during the Presidents Cup was Si Woo and Tom's celebrations, among everything else. He said that some people might feel it is excessive but he can't say much as he wasn't behind the scenes and was unsure of what truly transpired.
He emphasized that celebrations are a key to team golf from both television and entertainment perspectives as it differs from regular tournaments when fewer emotions are shown by players until the final holes. He further said (via PGA Tour):
"And we got to remember that these things are supposed to be fun, and they're supposed to be entertaining. So you can always take it too far. I think Tom's going to continue to learn I, I'm always going to take Tom side on things because I got so close with him. And I know how good of a kid he is."
Joe Skovron has caddied for Rickie Fowler for more than a decade. He briefly caddied for Tom from the 2022 Presidents Cup till early 2023.
Skovron further said:
"But he's also growing up, right? So like, maybe you don't say what you said after that round, and you learn from that, you know, and maybe there's times where you do run around and you don't run around and you kind of just learn over time." he added.
Tom Kim had called out US team members for cursing at him and his partner Si Woo Kim during Saturday's foursomes match against Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. He apologized to Jim Furyk and Schauffele at the end of the tournament for his comments.
