The World No.1 gained his first title in his ninth event this season but has been quite unstoppable since then. His first win came at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, followed by the PGA Championship, and the Signature event in Dublin, Ohio.

While Rory McIlroy won his first Masters to reach the career Grand Slam this year, Scheffler claimed his first PGA win. With two different winners in the first two majors, fans will be eager to see who will step up to win the penultimate major of the year.

Ahead of the tee off at Oakmont, the 28-year-old golfer took to his Instagram page to share a series of pictures, including a black-and-white image with his caddie, Ted Scott, from the practice round at Oakmont. He also donned black and white attire during the practice. The caption echoed his high spirits and enthusiasm as he wrote:

"Gettin’ after it - it’s U.S. Open week."

This week will be Scottie Scheffler's eighth appearance at the U.S. Open since his debut in 2016 and his best result came as the joint runner-up finish alongside Will Zalatoris in 2022.

Scheffler also enters the upcoming major tournament as a top favourite as his odds of winning the title are +280.

Scottie Scheffler's past record at US Open

Scottie Scheffler first played at the U.S. Open in 2016, two years before he turned a Tour professional. He has failed to make the cut on two occasions over the years, in 2016 and 2019.

In 2017, Scheffler finished in a five-way tie for 27th at the Erin Hills Golf Course. He put himself into contention at Torrey Pines in 2021 but settled for the T7 place at the end of the event.

The following year at the Country Club in Brookline, Scheffler claimed the joint runner-up position with five-under par score, while Matt Fitzpatrick took the title home by a one-stroke margin.

With a seven-under par total score, the World No.1 finished solo in third place in 2023. Last year, Scheffler had a rather disappointing result as he ended at T41 after carding an eight-over par final score.

In the upcoming 125th edition, Scottie Scheffler will look to win his first U.S. Open title and take one step closer to reaching his career Grand Slam. Scheffler has claimed two Masters titles, in 2022 and 2024, and the 2025 PGA Championship to date.
