Scottie Scheffler won his first Players Championship on Monday, which was his career's 6th PGA Tour win, and reclaimed the World No. 1 spot from Jon Rahm in the process. In a commanding display, he finished five strokes ahead of Englishman Tyrrell Hatton, the largest margin of victory at the tournament since Stephen Ames won by six shots in 2006. Cheering Scottie on during the final day and to celebrate his win were his wife Meredith, his parents, and his 88-year-old grandmother. After the win, Scottie talked about his grandmother in an interview. “It’s pretty impressive she’s walking so many holes out here, she’s a trooper,” the 26-year-old American told reporters. “I really don’t know what to say. She’s had a rough last year with Grandpa passing away, and we have an uncle that’s pretty sick, and I’m just happy that we’re able to kind of enjoy all this together.”Asked how he would celebrate, Scheffler added, "Maybe Grandma’s got some food at home. I know she has some dessert. We’ll see what’s in store.”The last two lines brought a smile to all the fans' faces and they all took to social media to share their reactions on the same.Golf Digest@GolfDigestNever change, Scottie. 276569Never change, Scottie. 😂 https://t.co/XAaz5utCh4Fans react as Scottie Scheffler reveals how he will celebrate his victoryOne fan made a cheeky comment about the kind of dessert his grandma could make.Short Sternum Steve@SternumSteve@GolfDigest Grandma makes the BEST space cakes 2@GolfDigest Grandma makes the BEST space cakes ☺️Another fan agreed that this was the right spirit shown by the champion.Ed Loper@EdLoper2@GolfDigest That’s what it’s all about!!1@GolfDigest That’s what it’s all about!!Another fan could relate to the Texas connection that brought about his comment.flavio arguello@flaviosavage11@GolfDigest That's texan boy if I ever heard one! #HookEm2@GolfDigest That's texan boy if I ever heard one! #HookEmThis fan made a fun comment regarding Scheffler's remark about his grandmother.Aharon Brown@ModeratelyBrown@GolfDigest Refreshing take on a professional athlete.10@GolfDigest Refreshing take on a professional athlete.People who know about the iconic Jimmy Stewart can relate to this one.Tom-Zgainer@ZgainerT@GolfDigest He's the Jimmy Stewart of golf8@GolfDigest He's the Jimmy Stewart of golfThis fan seemed to enjoy Scottie's comments a lot and found him to be a very likable person.Tom-Zgainer@ZgainerT@GolfDigest He's the Jimmy Stewart of golf8@GolfDigest He's the Jimmy Stewart of golfAnother man was all praise for the golfer, saying that he was the kind of champ that was needed, as he was so good with the fans.Daniel@strussy15@GolfDigest He’s the champion I never knew we needed.
