Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and 58 other golfers are competing in men's golf competition at Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France. The event will start on Thursday, August 1, and conclude on Sunday, August 4.

In a pre-tournament press conference before the 2024 Paris Olympics, Scottie Scheffler was asked about the significance of winning a medal at the Olympics. He said:
"It would be very special. It's not very often you get to compete in the Olympics, so to be able to have a medal for the rest of your life would be very special. Definitely, like I said, that's one of the reasons we showed up this week is come, to do our best and compete for a medal."
Scheffler is second in the PGA Tour power rankings for the event. He has the best odds on the field of +350, as per BetMGM Sportsbook.
Rory McIlroy is third in PGA Tour power rankings and has odds of +750. Talking to BBC Sport NI, McIlroy said:
"For me it's well documented I haven't won one of the big four in 10 years so it (a gold medal in Paris) would be one of, if not the biggest, achievements of my career in the last 10 years."
