Nelly Korda recently named an off-course event as her 'favourite' part of 2024. The World No.1 had a great run in the 2024 LPGA Tour season as she clinched seven wins.
Korda was also recently named the LPGA Player of the Year. In the pre-tournament press conference at the 2024 CME Group Tour Championship, Korda was asked about her favourite moment off the course or on the course. Talking about it, she said (via ASAP Sports):
"Honestly becoming an aunt to little Greyson would be my favorite obviously off the golf course."
Greyson is the son of Korda's elder sister and LPGA player Jessica. Korda further said:
"But I think all the moments that I've gone through, the lows and highs, they've shaped me to who I am. They're constantly shaping me to who I am; constantly growing. I can't pick one certain point because I've just enjoyed kind of all of it."
After winning six tournaments, Korda saw a slump where she missed three consecutive cuts. She even faced issues due to a neck injury for which she had to skip the Asian leg of the LPGA Tour. However, she concluded the season with a win at the Annika.
Korda tied for fifth at the LPGA's final tournament of the season, the CME Group Tour Championship. This marked her fourth consecutive top-10 finish at the event. Later in the post-tournament press conference, she reiterated her love for her niece. When asked about the highlight of the year, she said:
"Honestly not even golf. It's becoming auntie to Greyson. Seeing him grow and seeing that bond him and Jess share and her family, it's been amazing to see. Puts life in perspective, and makes life a little bit more fun knowing we have people at home cheering us on and have a smile on our face no matter how our day went."
Nelly Korda will be next seen on the golf course in an off-season event at the 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational, with her father Petr. The tournament will be held at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida from December 13 to 15.
Nelly Korda talks about how she'd approach the 2025 season
After a spectacular 2024 season, all eyes will be on Nelly Korda in the 2025 season. In the final tournament of the year, Korda was asked how she would approach 2025, given the unpredictable nature of the game. Talking about it, she said (ASAP Sports):
"I just take it day by day. I take it shot by shot, round by round. That's that I do. When it comes to practice, same thing. I take it day by day. I know what I need to do. I have people to guide me as well when I don't. I'm going to even if it's not going my way I'm going to give it 110%. That's how I was raised."
When asked if it was unrealistic to aim for a repeat performance in 2025, she said:
"I'm not going to think about what I need to accomplish next year. I'm just going to think about the first tee shot, first practice round, first practice session of next year. I'm just going to take it day by day."
In the 2024 LPGA Tour, Korda competed in 16 tournaments, making 13 cuts in the process. She registered seven wins and 11 top-10 finishes and made $4.4M in official earnings.
