LPGA star Annika Sorenstam has praised WNBA star Caitlin Clark ahead of The Annika driven by Gainbridge. Clark will be competing in the Pro-Am event at the tournament. She is paired with Sorenstam and World No.1 Nelly Korda.

The tournament will be held at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, from November 14 to 17. In the pre-tournament press conference, Sorenstam was asked if she had ever met Clark or had spoken to her. The LPGA legend said (via ASAP Sports):

"No, I have not met her, so I'm excited like a lot of people. I've watched her, read about her. I've had a little communication through social media. But really don't think that counts."
"I'm looking forward to spending some time with her and get to know her. She's just done so much for women's sport. She's the hottest thing right now. Glad she'll take some time out of her busy to schedule to come out and see what kind of golfer she is," she added.

This will be the fifth edition of the tournament. Caitlin Clark, who plays for Indiana Fever in the WNBA, was asked what are her off-season plans. She joked that she'd become a professional golfer. Talking about competing in the Pro-Am, Clark said (via LPGA):

"I love golf so the opportunity to play in the Pro-Am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting. Gainbridge® is a leader in supporting women’s sports and that’s clear through their commitment to me, this event, Billie Jean King, and Parity Week."
"I’m looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women’s Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika," she added.

The Pro-Am event featuring Caitlin Clark will be held on November 13. The main tournament will have a prize purse of $3.25 million and the field will have 120 players.

Annika Sorenstam will compete at the 2024 PNC Championship with her son Will

Annika Sorenstam has confirmed her participation at the 2024 PNC Championship. This year, the tournament will be held from December 19 to 22 at Ritz-Carlton GC in Orlando, Florida.

Sorenstam will be making her fifth appearance at the tournament and third with her 13-year-old son Will. She said (via LPGA):

"Will and I have been looking forward to the PNC Championship all year. We had an amazing experience last year, both playing together and being able to share the whole adventure with our family. The memories we made will stay with us forever."
"I was so proud of the way Will handled with the pressure of playing in front of so many fans and among so many legends of the game. He played well and enjoyed every single minute, which is what it’s all about," Annika Sorenstam added.

Team Sorenstam finished tied for 11th at last year's tournament. Bernhard Langer won the 2023 PNC Championship with his son Jason. The prize purse for the 2024 tournament is $1,085,000. The winners will take home $200,000.
